🙏 Bond in the cloud, at the push of a button
First impressions of Fog Play: three hours with 007 First Light, its attention to detail, and more than eight hours of cloud gaming over Wi‑Fi.
🙏 Bond in the cloud, at the push of a button
I'm rediscovering cloud gaming. The first platform I'm testing right now is Fog Play from MTS.
I picked two games for the test: Death Stranding and 007 First Light. There's not much to say about the first: Kojima is still a genius, and the game is excellent even almost seven years after its release.
But let's spend more time on the second. 007 First Light is a spy action game from the makers of Hitman. Bond is only just joining MI6 here; he still has to earn his famous 007 number.
I've spent three hours with the game. It throws you into the action straight away, before the tutorial. And this is a full 50–60-minute opening sequence, with cinematic transitions that make you feel as if you've stepped into a Bond film.
I especially liked the attention paid to the locations. Even the minor ones are packed with details that add to the atmosphere. The world feels believable.
The tutorial is unusual too. Some things repeat, but not long enough to become tiresome. The scenes are staged so well that you could imagine them in a film about a future agent's training.
In the story, the 00 agent programme is being relaunched. That also makes room for some up-to-date technology, including a quantum supercomputer.
And, as you'd expect from Bond, there's style in the details. At one point you get to choose an OMEGA watch: its colour and strap. That's both customisation and a brand tie-in. Even in Her Majesty's service, you have to decide which strap suits your mood today 😎
It's still too early to judge the cloud gaming service itself, but I've already played for more than eight hours over Wi‑Fi, and I plan to keep going.
