Anduril showed off remarkably compact AR glasses—but much remains unclear 🤔

Palmer Luckey is teasing us again. The founder of Oculus and Anduril appeared wearing an unusual pair of glasses and immediately declared that these were not merely “smart” glasses, but full AR with a wide field of view and colour stereoscopic imagery.

Much remains unclear. Are they standalone? Do they use an external compute pack? Is this a finished device, a prototype, or perhaps a clip-on attachment for ordinary aviator frames?

Still, the device looks genuinely interesting. After the bulky EagleEye system for the US military, such a compact form factor almost feels like a challenge to current AR trends. And honestly, I find the idea of an AR attachment for conventional glasses very appealing.

The key question is simple: does it make you think, “That looks good—I’d buy it”? If so, Anduril’s prospective military customers may well react the same way. Perhaps this familiar, compact form factor is exactly what the military needs, without making users feel as though they are wearing a helmet from Halo 🤩
